Program Title: A Step In The Right Direction
Speaker: Kathleen Schreckengost, DPT and Alexa Ciamarra, OT
Physical Therapist and Occupational Therapist, Kathleen and Alexa, will get us moving in the right direction with an interactive session designed to make our daily living safer and easier. We will leave their session with practical skills and helpful resources, and the confidence to live safely at home.

AAUW PA 2025 Summer Retreat
The AAUW Pennsylvania Summer Retreat will be held on June 28, 2025 at the Wyndham Garden State College.
There will be a reception Friday evening at the hotel for those who wish to spend Friday night getting to know their PA AAUW colleagues. The meeting will be held Saturday from 10 a.m – 3 p.m. for members who prefer to drive in for the day.
This will be an interactive day focused on topics that members have registered as priorities for branches.

The North Hills Pittsburgh Branch of AAUW is pleased to announce by popular request we are bringing back the authors event ”For the Love of Books” Fundraiser. Three talented female Authors will speak. This is a great opportunity to interact with 3 local authors and to raise funds for our scholarship and to support our mission for women and girls.

Great Decisions

Mark your calendars! Another Great Decisions series is about to begin!
AAUW North Hills Pittsburgh is again sponsoring this educational outreach program for the North Hills community!
Our Great Decisions leadership team are planning for the 2026 program to be held on seven Saturday mornings in February and March. Plans are currently underway for the 2026 season to be a hybrid model. For each session registrants will be able to choose whether to participate on Zoom or in-person by coming to the Palumbo Center at La Roche University.
The series is FREE and you may attend as few or as many of the sessions as you choose. But who wouldn’t want to learn more about ALL of these topics?!! Those who choose to purchase the Briefing Book can do so for $30 at the LA Roche Library. ONLY CHECKS WILL BE ACCEPTED, made out to AAUW North Hills Pittsburgh.
Books and the complete schedule of dates will be available in January 2026.

January 19, 2026, at La Roche University in the Zappala Campus Center. 8:00 a.m. Breakfast served 8:30 a.m.
The Martin Luther King Jr. Annual Unity Breakfast is a significant event that honors the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. It brings together community members, leaders, and advocates to reflect on Dr. King’s message of peace, equality, and social justice. The event includes inspiring speakers, community awards, and opportunities to support local initiatives. It aims to unite communities in the spirit of Dr. King’s dream and continues to celebrate the principles of peace, love, and social justice that Dr. King stood for.

The Power of Women in STEM: AAUW NGOCSW Parallel
Event Innovation & Advancement
AAUW’s virtual parallel event, moderated by Gloria L. Blackwell, featured a panel of four outstanding
AAUW fellowships & grants alumnae — Catherine Adelman, Dr. Christine Marizzi, Dr. Rachel Marra,
and Yamilée Toussaint. Panelists discussed the critical need for strategies that inspire and educate
girls to choose STEM careers and how to remove barriers to increase the participation and
empowerment of women across these underrepresented fields.
Held in the frame of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) March 26, 2025,
this parallel event was part of a series of sessions organized by NGOs and other groups alongside
the official UN meetings, providing space to highlight key gender equality issues.
